We are delighted to be part of the team behind the new British Heart Foundation ‘Hard & Fast’ campaign promoting hands-only CPR having built, integrated and deployed the campaign on British Heart Foundation's Immediacy CMS managed website.

The campaign was conceived and designed by Grey London and stars footballer turned Hollywood icon Vinnie Jones advising members of the public who are not trained to perform CPR to concentrate on chest compressions instead of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation when faced with a cardiac arrest victim.

The embedded video ad also features classic Bee Gees’ hit ‘Stayin’ Alive’. The British Heart Foundation recommends resuscitators hum the song and pump the patient’s chest in time to the beat – around 110 to 120 times a minute.

Ellen Mason, senior cardiac nurse at the British Heart Foundation, stated: "The kiss of life can often be daunting for untrained bystanders who want to help when someone has collapsed with a cardiac arrest. Hands-only CPR should give lots of people the confidence and know-how to help save someone in cardiac arrest, the ultimate medical emergency.”

Campaign star Vinnie Jones said: “I'm sure that before the weekend somebody is going to save someone's life in the street and they'll thank the British Heart Foundation for giving them that knowledge.”

The campaign has quickly gone viral

Tim Chitty, Head of Operations at Positive Technology adds: “British Heart Foundation has a record for commissioning highly creative marketing campaigns and Grey’s ‘Hard and Fast’ campaign has quickly gone viral. As British Heart Foundation’s lead technical agency we are delighted to have played a part in this important communication.”

Every year, 30,000 people have a cardiac arrest in public, and only one in 10 survive. Anyone wishing to make a donation to continue the life-saving work of the British Heart Foundation can do so here.
